Abstract
Provides guidance for the use of impact protection vehicles (IPV) for routine maintenance operations on the strategic road network. IPVs are used to reduce risks and the severity of injury to road workers who are working nearby, by absorbing impact energy. Explains use of the vehicles for dual or single vehicle working, risk assessment, current practice both nationally and internationally, collision modelling and operational factors.
