Abstract
Contains details of an examination of the relevance of cracking in concrete to the corrosion of reinforcement. The diversity in opinion regarding this subject has often led to unnecessary expenditure in inspection and repair costs, as well as compromises in safety. This report aims to clarify the situation and formulate guidelines which would help to classify crack types on the basis of their potential to give rise to corrosion in the future.
