Abstract
Describes the scale of fire losses in warehouses and their vulnerability. Identifies the causes of fire in warehouses. Explains how automatic fire sprinkler systems work and why they are successful. Attempts to dispel the perception that sprinklers cause water damage. Sets the legislation context and highlights the cost benefits of sprinkler protection. Addresses the safety of fire fighters, environmental issues, and the storage of high-risk materials. Includes recent case studies taken from a major distribution depot, a loading bay and a warehouse.
