Abstract
Describes potential uses of light detection and ranging (LIDAR) for assessing and measuring traffic speed systems and infrastructure assets such as bridges, signs, gantries, lighting, embankments, drainage systems and other roadside furniture, which are not usually measured by other automated surveys. The study concluded LiDAR is suitable for routine measurement and assessment of assets, with further development needed for common systems to collect, process, analyse and store the LiDAR data.
