Abstract
Advises on the requirements for the preparation and adoption of a local development plan (LDP) in Northern Ireland. Discusses the plan strategy, highlighting: the legislative context; survey and information gathering; policy context for the preparation of the plan strategy; content of the plan strategy; topic areas; archaeology and the built heritage; coastal development; control of outdoor advertisements; development in the countryside; economic development, industry and commerce; flood risk; housing in settlements; minerals; natural heritage; open space, sport and outdoor recreation; renewable energy; telecommunications and other utilities; tourism; town centres and retailing; transportation; waste management; maps; sustainability appraisal and other accompanying assessments; availability and public consultation on the plan strategy.
