Abstract
Provides advice on legislation, procedures and good practice in development management in Northern Ireland. Discusses the consultation process and the duty to respond, highlighting: legislative context; role of consultees; consultation with statutory and non-statutory bodies; the statutory consultee; duty to respond to a consultation; deadline and time extension; substantive response; non-statutory consultees; consultation by the Department; consultations and other planning consents; environmental impact assessment (EIA); monitoring of the consultation process; resolving the differences arising from consultation responses; and transitional arrangements.
