Abstract
Comprises one of a series of guides setting out the scope of opportunities for building high quality places particularly using garden city principles, highlighting key points for consideration in planning for growth and signposting to further detailed information. Specifically focuses on developing a zero-carbon strategy for a garden city to enable them to become energy-positive, looking closely at the policy context, carbon and energy objectives, current funding opportunities and masterplanning for energy. Also includes 2 case studies centred on the North West Bicester eco-town and the municipalisation of energy generation in Derbyshire and Hamburg.
