Abstract
Provides advice on legislation, procedures and good practice in development management in Northern Ireland. Discusses the legislative requirements for the control of hazardous substances, highlighting: the legislative background; hazardous substances consent (HSC); exemptions from hazardous substances requirements; directions by the Department for Infrastructure in emergencies; applications for HSC; call-in of applications; HSC applications made by the council; contravention of HSC control; revocation or modification of HSC; development proposals around hazardous substances installations; development plan; and registers.
