Abstract
Provides advice on the planning process for dealing with proposals for nationally significant infrastructure projects (NSIPs) for members of the public and others. Details the process for the examination of an application.

Supersedes Nationally significant infrastructure: how to get involved in the planning process. Influencing how an application will be examined - the preliminary meeting. Version 3, April 2012 (PINS, 2012). Under the Localism Act 2011, the IPC is abolished with its work being transferred to the National Infrastructure Directorate, created within the Planning Inspectorate. Consequently, all IPC advice notes have been republished by the Planning Inspectorate.
