Abstract

This draft Approved Document B1 forms part of the consultation suite seeking views on clarifying statutory guidance and usability for fire safety in the approved documents. The aim is to reduce the risk of misinterpretation during building work and inspection. Volume 1 covers requirements B1-B5 for dwellings: means of warning and escape, internal fire spread (linings), internal fire spread (structure), external fire spread and access and facilities for the fire service.
