Abstract

Provides design guidance for the structural fire resistance of steel columns in localised fires. A basic introduction to fire engineering is covered, looking at preventing collapse, fire protection provision and meeting the requirements of Eurocodes. Explores the behaviour of localised fires and the effects within the compartment, with methods to determine column temperature and resistance to elevated temperatures. Also includes a new design model for localised fires and design examples.
