Abstract
Provides advice on selecting and procuring the right tree for the right place in urban areas. Covers the benefits of trees in providing ecosystem services and enhancing biodiversity, while highlighting good practice in planting and establishment of trees including information on ground preparation, production system choice, mulching, weeding, watering and formative pruning. Also discusses long term issues, particularly the threats to existing trees from pests, disease and climate change.
