Details requirements for applying surface course materials to new and for maintenance of flexible and rigid pavements. Covers options and aggregate selection.

Surfacing materials for new and maintenance construction (HA, 2006) and IAN 156/16 Revision of permitted surface course options and aggregate specification for pavement surfacing (HE, 2016). DMRB 7.5.1. The Highways Agency is now known as Highways England. Design manual for roads and bridges (DMRB). Revision 1 dated Nov 2018 - corrects a previously omitted line in table 3.2b. Revision 2 dated Feb 2019 - includes a limited number of technical modifications related to the selection of the polished stone value of aggregates. Corrects an error with the emboldening of the cells in Table 3.2a, row G1.
