Details requirements for applying surface course materials to new and for maintenance of flexible and rigid pavements. Covers options and aggregate selection.

Design manual for roads and bridges (DMRB). Revision 1 dated Nov 2018 - corrects a previously omitted line in table 3.2b. Revision 2 dated Feb 2019 - includes a limited number of technical modifications related to the selection of the polished stone value of aggregates. Corrects an error with the emboldening of the cells in Table 3.2a, row G1. Revision 3 dated April 2019 - with an update of the Scotland national application annex. Revision 4 dated March 2020 - with additional requirements relating to coloured surfacing, central reserves and lay bys.
