Abstract
Sets out the framework, purpose, objectives and application of the National model design code, created as part of the Government's planning practice guidance and to promote successful design. The coding process has 3 broad segments for preparing a local design code: analysis, vision, and code, which can be expanded to 7 steps: scoping and baseline, design vision, coding plan and masterplanning, guidance for area types and general guidance.
