Abstract
Highlights the safe method of pressure leak testing of refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump pipework using oxygen free nitrogen at high pressure. Discusses safety aspects which need to be considered in risk assessments, provides the steps of the procedure to follow when testing and includes a section on Gay-Lussac's gas law.

It was established in 1904 as the National Association of Master Heating and Domestic Engineers and has been through a few name changes since, including: Heating and Ventilating Contractors' Association (HVCA) and from 2012 it was the known as the Building and Engineering Services Association (BES).
