Abstract

Provides practical guidance for complying with building regulation requirements relating to: fire safety matters within and around buildings. The 5 main requirements cover: means of warning and escape; internal fire spread (linings); internal fire spread (structure); external fire spread; and access and facilities for the fire service. Approved Document B (fire safety) has been published in two volumes. This volume (Volume 1) deals with dwellings and blocks of flats and Volume 2 deals with all other types of building covered by the Building Regulations.

Replaced 2019 edition and subsequent amendments on 1st December 2022. Came into effect 30 August 2019 except in respect of work already commenced before that date or in respect of work for which a building notice or initial notice has been given or full plans deposited before that date and provided work commences within two months of that date.
