Reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) panels - investigation and assessment

Abstract

Presents the results of the specialist IStructE group investigation of RAAC panels, following the collapse of a school flat roof in 2018 and a subsequent SCOSS safety alert in 2019. The report describes the issue, and examines the compressive strength, reinforcement, permeability, elasticity and creep characteristics of RAAC. It also summarises recent investigations and experiences and looks at remediation techniques.
