Abstract
Looks at the principles of good design and explains what is meant by placemaking. Also explains how communities can be involved in the design of new homes in local areas. Discusses: what makes a 'well-designed' place; how placemaking fits into good design; how local authorities consider design in regeneration and housing developments; and how communities can be involved in developing design codes.
