Abstract
Provides basic design rules for plated steel shell structures, in particular design against buckling, fatigue and cyclic plasticity. Should also be used in conjunction with the relevant application parts of BS EN 1993.
Document History
This document is considered to be a first generation Eurocode and is the applicable standard for building and civil engineering works constructed in the UK. A period now exists to prepare for the transition between first and second generation Eurocodes. First generation Eurocodes will be withdrawn by BSI on 30 March 2028 and will be replaced by second generation Eurocodes. Supersedes BS EN 1993-1-6:2007. Amendment dated 28 February 2010 - Implementation of CEN corrigendum April 2009, and correction to national foreword. Amendment dated 31 December 2017 - Implementation of CEN amendment A1:2017. Amendment dated 31 December 2023 - Correction to formulae (8.14) and (8.27), and correction to national foreword. To enable EN 1993-1-6 to be used in the UK, the committee has decided that no National Annex will be issued and recommend the following: all the Recommended Values should be used, all Informative Annexes may be used and no NCCI have currently been identified.
