Abstract
The Domestic technical handbook provides practical guidance to meet building regulations requirements for the conservation of fuel and power, furthering sustainable development and ensuring the health, safety, welfare and convenience of people in and around buildings.

Superseded by Building Standards Technical Handbook 2024: Domestic April 2024 (Applicable to works from 1 April 2024). Supersedes Building Standards Technical Handbook 2023: Domestic June 2023. Includes minor amendments to Section 0 (general) and introduction of new standard 7.2 (Electric vehicle charging) within Section 7 (sustainability). The Handbooks are otherwise unchanged from the February 2023 version. December 2023 addendum – requirements unchanged. Small changes to text to clarify guidance in response to queries raised. Annex 5.A, 6.C & 6.D added. Table of contents added. Comes into force 5 June 2023.
