Abstract
The Domestic technical handbook provides practical guidance to meet building regulations requirements for the conservation of fuel and power, furthering sustainable development and ensuring the health, safety, welfare and convenience of people in and around buildings.

Supersedes Building Standards Technical Handbook 2024: Domestic (Applicable to works from 1 April 2024) V1.0 December 2023. V1.1 September 2024. First published December 2023. Comes into force 1 April 2024. The 2024 technical handbooks introduce standard 6.11 (Heating and hot water – direct emission heating system), associated amendments to standard 6.1 and guidance to standards 6.1, 6.8 and 7.1. The handbooks are otherwise unchanged from the June 2023 (December addendum) version. Version 1.0 dated December 2023. Version 1.1 dated September 2024. Details of amendments are given on page 1 of the document.
