Abstract

This series of updates covers the significant changes introduced in EN 1993‐1‐1, EN 1993‐1‐8 and EN 1994‐1‐1. This publication addresses web bearing and buckling failures in beams or columns due to concentrated forces applied to their flanges, with design guidance provided in BS EN 1993‐1‐5 and BS EN 1993‐1‐8, and introduces a simple verification for web bearing resistance in the 2022 version of BS EN 1993‐1‐1, which eliminates the need to check for web buckling.
