Abstract
Relates to a study evaluating the embodied carbon of a 6-storey residential building. It compares two structural solutions: a light steel framing system with joisted floors and a reinforced concrete frame with light steel infill walls. The analysis employs the methodology and data from the 2nd Edition of the Institution of Structural Engineers' publication, How to Calculate Embodied Carbon, with results benchmarked against IStructE's SCORS ratings and LETI targets. Full details of the assessment are documented in SCI report RT1947 (November 2023).
