Abstract
Discusses the prominent building for Jesus College, Oxford, creating a modern fourth quad, integrating teaching, research, retail, healthcare, and student living. As central Oxford’s first all-electric building, it meets 40% of its energy needs through on-site generation and reuses an existing concrete structure, with the upper floors built primarily from cross-laminated timber (CLT) for sustainability and carbon reduction. Locally sourced natural stone cladding ensures durability while harmonizing with the surrounding historic architecture. The gatehouse tower room gallery, with its striking views of Oxford’s 'dreaming spires,' and carefully detailed fenestration strategy enhance both aesthetic and environmental performance, balancing shading, ventilation, and energy efficiency.
