Abstract
Presents guidance for performance based specifications from four distinct positions: client, designer, project delivery and product manufacturer. Aspects considered include: barriers in using MMC, setting performance requirements, RIBA design process, where they can be used, scope, early stage design, planning applications, risk analysis, standards, regulations and key legislation, demonstrating achievement, communication and basis of design, format, digital performance specifications, whole life costs, carbon performance requirements, models, systems engineering and v-diagrams, adopting a common language, to order: engineering, modify, configure, select variant , product platform and actions. Also includes benchmarking and case studies.
