Abstract
Provides a guide to road condition statistics and contains technical information to assist in interpreting those statistics. Covers: CHART, Coarse Visual Inspection (CVI), Detailed Visual Inspection (DVI), carriageway defects measured by CVI and DVI, wheel track cracking, transverse or reflection cracking, whole carriageway cracking, wheel track rutting, deterioration of the wearing course, settlement and subsidence, edge deterioration, calculation of road condition using DVI and CVI data, chopping to form rating lengths, calculating defect ratings, calculating condition indices, merging to form defect lengths, obtaining National Indicators (Best Value Performance Indicators), further information on CHART, CVI, DVI and the use of data.
