Technical Note TN 12/86 Fault finding procedures in the building services industry
Publication Year
1986
Document Status
Current
Abstract
States that within the building services industry little serious consideration is given to fault finding procedures. Most available documentation is limited to that provided by manufacturers. Systematic organisation of fault finding documentation starting with the client's requirements and ending with a usable document based on information from the client, designer, manufacturer and contractor seems to be the exception rather than the norm. Provides a detailed review of the state of the art of fault finding in the building services industry by analysing the reasons for providing fault finding information, types of fault finding documentation and formalised fault finding systems. Considers presentation and reader ability, training and cost effectiveness.
