Report R 99 Composite beams and slabs with profiled steel sheeting
Publication Year
1983
Document Status

Abstract
The use of profiled sheeting in composite beam and slab construction in buildings is reviewed. The Report assesses code requirements, and design criteria for the various profile types used to form the soffit of composite slabs. Constructional and fire criteria are also examined. The various design methods for composite beams are presented and their relative merits examined, leading to a recommended design approach. This is based on the partial-interaction method of ultimate load analysis with additional checks on the performance at working load. The requirements for shear connection, and design in normal or lightweight concrete are reviewed. A fully worked example is presented.
