Abstract
For many years the inadequate usage of spaces and chairs has been a major cause of misplaced steel reinforcement and decreased durability of in-situ reinforced concrete. Until now no comprehensive national recommendations have existed either for the use or the performance of spacers, chairs and tying. This document provides standardised methods of achieving specified nominal cover and gives standard performance requirements and methods of testing spacers and chairs.
