Abstract
Demonstrates the need for museums to strike a balance between environmental control and energy efficiency. In doing so, it presents both conventional and alternative solutions to refute the argument that saving energy means 'switching off' an appliance, a practice which is unacceptable in museums if they are to fulfil their duty of care of their collections.
