Abstract

Presents a method of design for slim floor construction comprising steel beams and concrete slabs located within the depth of the beams. The design procedures are in accordance with BS 5950: Parts 1 and 3 for unpropped simply supported beams with uniformly distributed loading. Design charts and explanation of their use are included, together with three fully worked examples illustrating the design method.
