Abstract
It is important to be able to assess any timber which has been attacked by fungi or insects and apply the necessary remedial measures, paying particular attention to timbers having a load-bearing role. This book describes procedures for inspecting buildings for damage by fungal growths and wood-boring insects, and the methods and materials for treating damaged timber. It is concerned with problems generally found in the United Kingdom. Particular attention is given to the health and safety aspects of treatment processes, with which the Health and Safety Executive have given considerable help.
