Abstract
Concrete structures are generally capable of being reinstated after a fire, even a severe one. The report contains a summary of the philosophy and procedures to be adopted by the engineer in assessing damage to columns, beams and slabs of reinforced or prestressed concrete and categorises the condition of individual members into one of five classes. It describes the design and execution of repairs necessary on the basis of such assessment to restore the structure so that it will fulfil its original performance requirements including fire resistance. Information is given on a number of repair methods, in particular gunite, the most common material for major repairs.
