Abstract
Automatic door-operating systems provide a means of opening and closing doors without the need for physical effort. For many people who lack physical ability doors can be a barrier to access, particularly doors incorporating self-closing devices to minimise heat loss or control the spread of fire or smoke. Automatic operation can remove that barrier. This guide provides a basic knowledge and understanding of the various systems combined with an indication of the current possibilities to help designers make informed initial decisions and identify and approach specialist manufacturers and installers.
