Abstract

Provides background information, design tables and useful guidance on Part 1. 2 'Structural Fire Design' of Eurocodes 3 and 4, dealing with structural design in steel and composite constructions respectively. The forms of construction that are covered by these Eurocodes include protected and unprotected steel beams and columns, composite beams and slabs, concrete encased and concrete-filled hollow sections, and special structures such as external steelwork. The publication reviews the scope and use of these Eurocodes, and extends the number of simplified tables on some of these forms of constructions that are considered to satisfy the requirements of the Eurocodes. Modifications to some tables in EC4: Part 1. 2 are proposed. Worked examples on the fire resistance design of certain of these cases are presented in detail.
