Abstract
The definition of glued laminated timber (glulam) in European Standards is that it is manufactured from laminates of timber glued together with the grain in the laminates running essentially parallel. The laminates in glulam are normally sawn sections which are planed to a smooth surface before gluing. It can be produced as straight or curved beams, arches, or portal sections, of uniform or varying depth.
