Digest 217 Wall cladding defects and their diagnosis
Publication Year

Abstract
Two kinds of defects in cladding cause particular concern: rain penetration and dislodgement. Both are important in themselves. Unless rectified when warning signs appear, further deterioration is likely. Diagnosis of potential dislodgement of cladding over public ways is particularly important. This digest gives guidance on how to spot latent defects likely to lead to rain penetration or dislodgement and how to interpret warning signs. Unless warning signs are correctly interpreted, remedial work can be unsuitable and may even make matters worse. This digest deals with non-loadbearing cladding.
