Abstract

Intended to remind and inform designers and site supervisory staff of ways of avoiding some of the most troublesome defects which have beset Local Authority housing. This Defect Action Sheet covers single wall flue pipes for class II appliances - location, fixing and shielding. Failures discussed include leakage of flue gases; and ignition of combustible materials. Defects discussed include flue pipes not sleeved; flue pipes not adequately supported; jointing disturbed; flue pipes too close to combustible materials; and flue pipes not fully connected to discharge to external air.
