Abstract
Intended to remind and inform designers and site supervisory staff of ways of avoiding some of the most troublesome defects which have beset Local Authority housing. This Defect Action Sheet covers brick walls: replastering following dpc injection. Failures discussed include staining of new plaster and decorations by residual dampness in walls; staining of retained plaster; and recurrence of rising damp. Defects discussed include incorrect plastering system; plaster, contaminated by hygroscopic salts, not removed; and injected dpc bridged by new plaster.
