Abstract
Gives detailed advice on precautions necessary when placing concrete during periods of freezing or near-freezing weather. Explains frost damage and suggests how to classify contracts according to the scale of precautions planned. Defines frost safety level and gives methods of measuring when concrete has reached this stage. Gives recommendations on heated concrete, insulation and enclosures, special cements and admixtures, curing and formwork striking.
