Abstract
Guidance on the structure and objectives of the health and safety at work act including amendments to the act since it came into force. Information is given on the duties of employers (including the self-employed) to employees and non-employees relating to safety and policies. Also covers the duties of designers, manufacturers, importers, suppliers and installers as well as employees. The roles of the enforcing agencies and inspectors are discussed including their powers and the disclosure of information. Notices are detailed including improvement, prohibition, crown, withdrawal and appeals. Descriptions of the offences, prosecutions, matters of imprisonment, court orders and liability are given.
