Abstract
Serious accidents have occurred during the erection and dismantling of rack and pinion hoists. An analysis of these accidents shows that the most common causes are missing or faulty fastenings between the mast sections and the absence of sufficient and adequate ties between the hoist and the adjacent building or other structure. The aim of this guidance note is to give advice on the procedure for carrying out this work.
