Abstract

Advises on safety requirements for the type of goods/materials hoist designed to lift on an incline rather than vertically; these are used in building and construction work, particularly in building refurbishing. These hoists are variously known as roof-tile carriers, ladder lifts or elevators, or inclined building elevators. They are hoists as defined by the Construction (Lifting Operations) Regulations 1961 if they are used for lifting and have a carriage or a platform or cage the movement of which is restricted by a guide or guides.
