Government's Standard Assessment Procedure for energy rating of dwellings. 1998 edition. SAP 1998

Publication Year

1998

Document Status

Withdrawn

Abstract

Describes the Government's Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) for producing an energy rating for a dwelling, based on the calculated annual energy cost for space and water heating. The calculation assumes a standard occupancy pattern, derived from the measured floor area of the dwelling, and a standard heating pattern. The procedure includes an optional element which can be used to calculate a carbon dioxide emission figure.

Document History

SAP was first published by the DOE (now the DETR) and BRE in 1993 and amended in 1994, and conventions to be used with it were published in 1996 and amended in 1997. This edition consolidates the SAP with the information previously published as conventions, and updates the reference data. Superseded by the 2001 edition.
