Abstract
The increasing complexity and costs of telecommunications equipment has highlighted the need for a more detailed approach to the provision and management of such systems. In particular, the modern telephone exchange, with its ability to provide a more flexible approach to the changing needs of the user, needs to be managed if the full potential of the equipment is to be realised.
