Abstract
In 1998 the British National Committee of the World Road Association, held an international essay competition for young professionals, titled 'Infrastructure and Transportation in the 21st Century'. This report was short listed by the judging panel for the UK round, and was presented at the final at the Institute of Civil Engineers in February 1999.
