Construction Information Sheet 53 Crossing high-speed roads on foot during temporary traffic-management works
Publication Year
2000
Document Status
Withdrawn
Abstract
Provides advice on health and safety issues where traffic-management workers cross on foot the carriageways of high-speed roads which are open to traffic.
Document History
Superseded by CIS53(Rev1) 'Reducing risk in temporary traffic management operations' (HSE, 2015). Research Report RR885 Assessment of current guidance in relation to safe carriageway crossing (CIS53) on high speed roads (HSE, 2011), broadly supports the rules set out in this Construction Information Sheet for crossing a carriageway on foot, but recognises that some traffic flows on motorways make crossing impossible in practice for much of the day.
