Abstract
Provides an analysis and interpretation of ten surveys of housing in the public sector which met the Secured by Design (SBD) criteria and one survey of housing which applied but did not receive the SBD award. The results show that from the public sector housing view SBD is a success. I t has reduced perceived incivilities, actual crimes and improved the quality of these people's lives.
