Abstract

In the design of geotechnical structures, a reliable prediction of soil deformation under load is primarily dependent on the accuracy with which the stress regime in the ground is known. For this reason insitu testing using pressuremeters has been increasingly employed to complement laboratory testing at the site investigation stage. This report describes a field trial of the TRL pressuremeter in Gault Clay.
